There was a design flaw. I received the first and the bottom was so deformed that the support band at the base prevented the rubber gasket around the perimeter from contacting the top. Because of this, instead of the bottom being stationary and the lid rotating as intended, the whole thing rotated. I sent it back and got a replacement. Same problem. I decided to plant it on a towel and use it anyway to see if it works at all. It shredded a pound of cooked, chopped chicken fairly well in two minutes of work (see picture). I would give it 4 stars for its functionality if not for the lack of design. It was difficult to use with a towel underneath, so it's not easy to fix. I leave it on and cut the straps underneath to try and get it to work because I think it's good otherwise. Don't buy it if you don't want to fix it as it doesn't come out of the box based on the two I received. I think it's a good 4 star product that he fixed. You can probably shed faster than me if you experiment.
