This riveter works as intended. Simply insert the rivet bar into the tool, insert the rivet into the pre-drilled hole, and then squeeze the handles together. Open the handles and then slide the tool further down that shaft and then squeeze the handles back together. Repeat as many times as necessary. This requires some strength, so you may need to use two hands to squeeze it. Make sure the rivets are long enough to go through everything and beyond, otherwise you may need to put a small flat washer on the back before you start fastening them together.
