So much better then the plastic ones!
We used to have a plastic one but it was always dirty no matter how much I cleaned it! This one cleans up easy and looks good! Also, keeps the water on the cooler side due to the silver. Depending on how many animals you have and how messy they are (my dog will still have food in her mouth and the drink, getting the food in there haha) will depend on how often you have to change the filters, there are 2. The main one I change every 2 weeks and the black one inside I do once a month. It's easy to take apart and clean. Highly recommend this unit and you can get the filters right here on Ebay in a bundle! Keep them on hand and ready to go. Worth every penny even with the filters.
