Review on 4X4 Posi Lok PSL900 Axle Disconnect by Ronnie Saylor

The product is well assembled and packaged. The installation is quite easy. The only reason I'm giving two stars is because the installation guide didn't provide any information about the two installation steps. Pros —* All parts come in a box with instructions (more on that later)* It's built really well and looks like it'll last a long time if you keep the cord away from moving, hot, or sharp objects. Following the info sheet advice, I covered the cable in unsafe spots with small pieces of tubing, which I later tightened, cut the tubing lengthwise and zipped it in place. Cons - They're mostly based on bad instructions and I'll explain.* Installation went pretty smoothly, but be aware that snap rings require %&^%&^% of installation. There are three.* The cable is adjustable at the end of the body, and the instructions state that the cable must move the fork to either position of the body. If you need to adjust this you will need to remove the case again. Not critical, but nothing you can be sure of after a full install. A video guide would be helpful. *There is no mention that the cable is also adjustable at the end of the handle, or at least mine is. Turning the knob will move the default position, but the instructions don't mention this. I'm not sure where to do this, so I turned it about halfway to allow for some adjustment from that end. Not sure if that was correct or not. Why did I buy this set? My 1991 Jeep Cherokee Sport had the cable already installed but never worked properly. I called Posi Lok and found it was an Alloy branded product. I then asked the customer service representative if I could just buy a replacement cable for the Alloy product from them, but they told me it didn't fit. When removing and installing, the parts appear almost identical. I would have liked to buy a new cable but was also told it was out of stock. I then called Alloy on the number I was given from the online manual and they told me the same thing. "You can't buy cables alone." I'm not sure if that's entirely true or if I was convinced to buy the whole set. I ended up buying the Posi Lok version because it was the same price and was a kit maker.
