Review on Optimized Printers for Monoprice Surface Replacement by Ashwin Drollinger

How to replace the previous sheet!

I am writing this review to let you know what I think is the best way to replace a previous mat on your mini printer of choice. The footage I received appears to be identical to the original footage. To replace, first use a razor blade and pass it under the existing sticker on the build plate. The plastic peels off, leaving a thick layer of adhesive. Then preheat the workbench to 60°C. This will help soften the glue. Once hot, use a razor to scrape off the glue. Hold the razor low, like you're tucking it under a raft on a footprint. Don't just push the razor forward, but move it sideways at the same time. This will help it get under the glue and cut it off in big chunks. Store the sticky slime until it scrapes itself off! Don't throw it away! A thin layer of sticky material will likely remain after this step. Shape the slime you removed in the previous step into a ball and use it to remove the remaining glue. Move inward along the edges, using light tapping motions to remove a small amount of residue. It will take time, but it saves you from having to use a lot of toxic chemicals to dissolve it. When this is done, the plate will look clean but will probably still be a little sticky. I wiped the plate twice with a paper towel and acetone, after which it became like ordinary metal. The new sheet settled easily and I had no problems with blisters.
