This is great, and probably the only short extension arm you'll find (most are 8-10 inches). It has a ratchet-set mechanism to prevent slipping, which is effective. Don't buy anything without this feature because the weight of a heavy shower head will cause everything to sag down if it's just held up by screw tension. This one will not sag. Well made and nicely nickel-plated and I don't know why the negative comments. Both the connection to the wall extension and to the shower head tighten down against a rubber gasket, and this will twist unless you tighten pretty hard. Just exercise common sense and tighten "just enough" so that the gasket isn't damaged. It does the job, which is simply to raise upward and outward whatever shower head you're installing.
