A great addition for cropped amateur cameras. Most useful for reporting at dusk, when the "whale" is already blind. For portraits - well, you can shoot, but it gives distortion and is not very sharp in the open. Only if for growth, a maximum of waist, when you can’t run far with fifty dollars. Has some pros aperture "Normal" (like the human eye) viewing angle for crop. Allows you to shoot at dusk (still better with an external flash) Very light, suitable for travel. Good equipment (pouch, both caps, lens hood) Excellent build quality, metal mount. Has cons: It is not very sharp at open (f / 1.8-2.2), the working aperture is somewhere from 2.8. I wore it under warranty along with the carcass (D5300) for adjustment to the official service, it did not help. Focusing on one point is somewhat better, but also not great. Decent bokeh on such a ratio of focal and aperture can no longer be screwed up. Unlike, say, 50mm f/1.8G or 85mm f/1.8G, they are sharp wide open, but they are true full frame. Autofocus also sometimes misses.
