Not suitable for car electronic accessories

Bought this for my 2010 Tacoma which I thought had the right MP3 requirements. But it doesn't work. I can connect to the aux jack using the lightning to aux adapter that came with my phone. But this adapter did not bring anything. So I'm not sure what this adapter will work with.
