Review on ⚡ Enhanced Watt Meter Power Meter Plug: Convenient Home Electricity Usage Monitoring with Backlight, Overload Protection, & 7 Modes Display by Juan Simpson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

2nd time charm!

The first one I bought had a problem with the display not lighting up. I was able to read it with a flashlight and the reading seemed correct before I returned it. The plugin works correctly with a highly visible backlit display. I compared the watts and amps readings to known loads and the readings were accurate. The power factor, frequency, and voltage readings were acceptably close to other electrical test equipment I've tested with. The peak performance has also proven to be correct. This is very useful for checking the worst load when using alternative power sources such as inverters and generators. This measurement is not available on some other power meters like the popular P3 Kill-A-Watt device. I also tested overload mapping by changing the trip point and then applying a load that exceeded it. The OVERLOAD text on the display flashes when an overload occurs, but I didn't hear the "hum" like the instructions say. The instructions also say "selectable choice" but I couldn't find any setting for it. I've seen many complaints about the instructions. I didn't find it as confusing as Ikea's illustrated manual, with a function button that scrolls through seven screens of information. As previously mentioned, pressing "Function” and "Up” at the same time will erase stored data such as accumulated kWh, maximum and minimum power.

Pros
  • Absolute legend
Cons
  • I have no particular complaints about it, everything is fine
