These slide viewers have been around since the 1950's to the 60's. This is a very reliable old-style technology. Pana View does not work at all. Somehow they managed to screw up this instrument. I checked the bulb and changed the batteries. Everything is OK. Without taking it apart, I think it has something to do with connections. Leave it to Pana-Vue to mess up such a solid technology. It's also very stressful! A tool that should be as reliable as a hammer fails. Returned.
