I have been buying Bidderford electric blankets from local stores (Bi-Mart stores) for decades. At least one of the old queen beds has given out after several washes, but it must have been around 10 years old. It was thick, old-fashioned acrylic type, and over time, one side got worse than the other. This wasn't a problem with the controls as toggling didn't change the results. I suspect the wiring in the duvet has been affected by all the washing. This is the third plush model I've bought in the last 4-5 years, but the first with digital controls. I like the plush style as it doesn't cling to lint and dog hair like the old ones and haven't had any issues so far but they haven't been used that much. I'm wondering if people's problems are related to the controls? Haven't used this new one yet except to test it so I'll have to go back and change 5 stars if it fails. coming winter.
