Good idea but I don't know if it's the best idea

It's like a mini wire fence rolled into a cylinder. Difficult to install as it hangs on sheet metal screws that hold the downspout to the gutter. Then I realized that I can roll it up a bit and cut it until it fits. But this item will create a dam effect and block your drain pipes. This will prevent larger debris from entering the downspout, but can clog the gutter and your gutters may overflow without regular cleaning. So I've removed them now and am using gutter screens. I have a very large oak tree that drops something into the ditches all year round.
