Fits snugly in the wiring harness and to the back of my brake control unit. Fast and easy! 2005 F150 with towing package. If after plugging it in it doesn't seem to be connecting to your trailer's brakes and lights, check the simple things first. In my case, the connector on the back of the truck's 7-pin connector was loose. I spent 30 minutes checking fuses and relays, then finally checked the 7 pin connector and found a loose connector. Reconnected and everything worked. You may also need a relay on R05 to charge your trailer's battery (if applicable), otherwise your trailer's brakes and lights will work without this relay.
