We have a diamond dove recovering from a leg injury. She was obsessed with her nest from the pet store, but we were worried about the material because it could injure her leg even more. It was a woven material with sharp bits sticking out. It's absolutely perfect! The little blanket is a nice touch! As soon as I put it in her cage she jumped in and never left. She loves it! This is the perfect safe place for her to relax while she recovers. We haven't had to clean it yet but based on the materials I'm sure a simple hand wash and tumble dry will be fine. Just make sure the metal parts are thoroughly dry as they can rust.
