This is definitely a unique KVM. I don't think this is an industry standard, but bundling USB and HDMI ports into a single cable is at least one way to minimize the cable clutter that comes with connecting so many systems. I encountered two situations where the video signal was not working. 1) to the laptop's built-in HDMI port. I never found out why it didn't work. My workaround was to use the HDMI port on the USB-C dock. 2) I had one of those HDMI computer cards I've dreamed of and was never able to get video. Since it was temporary, I just found another monitor and moved on. Overall, this is a good product, but it might not live up to all the standards, so you might run into some comparison issues.
