Review on πŸŽ‰ ROKR Mechanical Building Supplies: Top Choice for Birthday Parties by Alexander Roberson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Very impressed, "Indeed! "

I was a little apprehensive about buying this set but only for $37. I decided to take a chance. It turned out that the money was well spent. The watch works great, keeps time accurately and looks pretty good too. My only complaint is that the "spring" is absolutely not enough to make this a good watch. Mine only runs for 3.5 hours before dropping to the point where it stops. It's not something you can finish, go to work, and then "rewind" when you get home. Wind it up, go to bed, put it back up and rewind the next morning. Do you understand what I'm saying. You have to rewind all the time! I'm going to throw away the wretched spring and replace that spring with a pulley and convert it to a weight driven system. If you want it to be a 24 hour clock I suggest you do the same, change it to be powered by WEIGHT! Except "I think this watch is a real piece of crap!" They actually tell the time pretty well (as long as the lousy spring doesn't loosen too much). Parts just aren't centered. If the wheel/shaft/gear assembly looks crooked, simply rotate the gear 90 degrees and double check alignment. If it's "still" crooked... keep twisting it until you can't find the middle ground. It's out there somewhere! Ultimately, perfect alignment is achieved! "No. that moving the center hole will 'NOT' affect the running of the clock. It will work just fine!" Just make sure everything looks even and aligned before you call it done! #2). Take your time and make sure that the parts you assemble really match the drawings/pictures 100%. Instructions are below. Written"NOT", only pictures. When you're in a hurry, it's easy to miss a small detail! Do not do that! Take your time and look carefully at the pictures!#3). When removing parts from laser cut sheet metal "Don't try to just push them out!" You will break some of them. Use the blade of an Exacto No. 11 knife to remove the pieces. If you turn the parts sheet over you can see where they are. rests on the metal sheet with untrimmed projections. Cut off these protrusions with your knife. You will not see these tabs on the face of the sheet. Turn the sheet over and cut off the tabs! # four). For God's sake. "DO NOT WAX 'ALL'!" Contrary to the instructions, wax is your enemy on wooden wheel clocks. The wood is hard and smooth after laser cutting. That's what you want and all you need! The addition of wax adds to this just add a "sticky" look to smooth wood. Clocks don't like sticky, sticky things! "WAX WILL STOP YOUR WATCH!" "DON'T DO THIS!" #5) Turn it into a weight clock or it becomes nothing more than an annoying "novelty" that you have to wind up every three hours to keep it running smoothly. It's not hard to do. Remove the spring and fill this gap with a pulley to which rope, wire or chain can be attached. Add weight to the other end, and you can turn it into an 8-day clock if your conversions are almost limitless. All you have to do is watch a few videos on YouTube, buy a set of wooden clock drawings, or take a close look at the weight driven clock you may already have to find the best way for you. good rating because it's actually a damn good and extremely accurate timer that was also quite fun to put together. To be a useful and practical watch, it just needs to be converted to weight.
