Review on BOSCH Blaze GLM50C: Bluetooth Enabled Laser Distance Measure with Color Backlit Display - Measure up to 165ft by Christopher Pfaffe

My main concern is the price of this product. It's not a bad device per se, but I've read bad reviews about the app. I haven't had to use it yet, so I'll wait until I do. I got the 50C because I need 1/16 inch accuracy and this was the cheapest that did it. I am a door specialist. and we need to be accurate to within 1/8th of an inch (since that is the size of the gaps between the door and its frame). This is a great device, but it cannot completely replace the tape measure. For example, the laser has to hit something. So if you're measuring a table, for example, you can lay it horizontal at one end, but it doesn't have to hit anything at the other end. Here the tape measure is quicker and easier, just hook the edge and pull to get your measurements. So now I take both and a measuring tape with me to work. Another great feature is the alignment feature. Some colleagues and I tested it at the app level on a smartphone and on the actual bubble level. Surprisingly, all 3 were accurate and gave the same results. I haven't had to bother with the advanced features like area calculations, blueprints, and bluetooth for the app, but so far it's great. I only wish it was half price! This kind of technology isn't new, and they're definitely a little hollowing out. It should be 50-60 dollars. not 100+!
