It's fairly easy to use, attaches to the side of the tank and the drum rotates to dispense feed. Programming was a bit strange, but I didn't read the manual carefully either, so I can't say it's the product. Can feed 4 times a day but mine is programmed to feed 2 times a day, once early morning and once in the evening. The opening through which food is emptied is adjustable to the point where you can empty excessive amounts of food (depending on what you use in it). I think the small, round pellets would fall through too often, so I only use round, chip-like flakes. I would recommend trying it out on a table or something and adjusting before attaching it to the tank. Also, before you buy, consider whether your range hood can accommodate this product. My aquarium uses a black coroplast cut rather than an expensive cap so this was not a problem. Definitely a life saver for me as I don't have to think about feeding the fish every morning and night like a typical fish farmer. probably should. The batteries aren't dead yet (there's a good battery indicator for that too), but I think you'll need to reprogram them after replacing them. If you've only used this thing for a week or two while on vacation, you shouldn't have any trouble turning off the feeder. Make sure you don't overfeed, but it works. My goldfish love it and so do I.
