This is how people defecated thousands of years before John Crapper invented the porcelain toilet. (Go to Turkey, Japan, Nigeria and many other countries and the toilets are still just a hole in the ground with a flush hose.) We really like the bamboo version. It has a "furniture quality" to match our bathroom. This product is widely used. It's well designed. One caveat: be careful and careful when assembling.
