Review on πŸ”΅ Milescraft 1210 Small Circle Compass - Enhanced Router Circle Cutting Jig by Masud Taylor

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Decent joystick for the price. A few cheap parts make it even better.

Most of the reviews on this pick are true. Mounting the base plate on some routers can be a bit odd (I was only able to get two screws into the bottom of the Bosch Colt dive base but it worked) but after that the system works fine. As others have pointed out, it has one HUGE downside: it's difficult to take the jig off work to check the diameter of the hole being cut. That makes it a bit difficult to sneak up on the exact size. This is especially true for small holes where you need to change the cutting diameter to get to the screw that this system uses as a fulcrum. However, there is an easy way to get around this. You only need a retractable pin (a precision-ground pin with a threaded hole in one end) and a screw to attach it to the jig. I used McMaster-Carr 97175A809 for the pin and 91771A195 for the screw. This gives you a precise pivot that you can easily remove from the hole later. Use a .250 quality drill bit to make the axle hole in the work and you should be good. Depending on the order, longer dowels are also possible. It helps me. YMMV.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks
