Some setup is required, but it's great once you get the hang of it.

I got the hang of it after reading the instructions once. I love that the kit comes with almost everything you need to get started including a router, rotary screw and drill bit. I was able to use the screws that came with my router to attach the base of the mount so no issues as others have mentioned. They also include a way to center the device on the router. What frustrates me the most is that I lost about 7/16 of an inch depth of cut with this jig due to the extra thickness of the jig…

Pros
  • cool product
Cons
  • boring packaging

Does exactly what it's supposed to do

It was a bit tricky to set up, but to be honest, routers are tricky. The more time you spend setting up a fixture or guide, the better the result will be. I really tend to distrust all the measurement manuals on the device (even if I take the time to zero them out) and I don't quite understand the measurement logic of this device. But by manually measuring my setup, I was able to get the result I wanted. I will say that although it comes with a few different screws and mounting hardware, I had…

Pros
  • It's great
Cons
  • Vulgarity

So easy to use it's scary

It takes a bit of getting used to, but ends up being very easy to use. The first two things to notice right away are: First, don't drill the pilot hole for the center screw too deep. If you do that, the screw doesn't have enough material to attach to and the whole thing shifts onto you. Second, if you're making inserts that require you to scrape off the rest of the material AFTER trimming the outside edge, PAY ATTENTION TO THE DEPTH. When the router is on the mount, its height will be different

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Doubtful

This is an interesting gadget and it probably doesn't work the way you think it does, so pay attention to the instructions. Part of the setup is replacing your router's base with the one that comes with this tool. This is not only necessary to secure the router to the tool, but to ensure it is centered. Mix it up and your cuts will be just like that. I was amazed at how quickly and easily I was able to cut the circles. I suggest doing a test run with the router bit up just to make sure you…

Decent joystick for the price. A few cheap parts make it even better.

Most of the reviews on this pick are true. Mounting the base plate on some routers can be a bit odd (I was only able to get two screws into the bottom of the Bosch Colt dive base but it worked) but after that the system works fine. As others have pointed out, it has one HUGE downside: it's difficult to take the jig off work to check the diameter of the hole being cut. That makes it a bit difficult to sneak up on the exact size. This is especially true for small holes where you need to change…

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

The clamp centering screw must be replaced with other fasteners.

For cutting out speakers in a large speaker box. The clamp center screw is a bad idea. When working with MDF, the thread does not hold the screw securely. It tends to grow, causing the entire device to deviate from the true center. The screw is too small for proper accuracy as it does not properly support the centerline. After a few laps around the circle, the whole contraption will start to wobble if you're not very careful. A better idea might be a precision dowel pin that fits into a reamed…

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • The list will be long.
