This set has been on my wish list for over a year. I didn't want to spend that much money but was intrigued by the high rating. I love tools and really appreciate it when a smart design company thinks outside the box and then uses quality materials and manufacturing. for 10 dollars. I cleaned out my tool box and got rid of most of the pliers, channel locks, and adjustable wrenches because those tools do all three jobs better. The biggest difference with this design is that when "locking" with this cam mechanism, the handles don't want to separate like channel locks do under load. This is really good design. Also, the jaws always stay parallel, which is nice. Finally, there are no teeth that could damage the equipment. I was hesitant to spend more than half of my tooling budget on four pairs of pliers in this pay period, but I'm really glad I did. The few times I've used them so far I've been very happy with them. Have you ever used canal locks for gas installations? Of course not, but they work fantastically, with no damage. UPDATE: A few months later I realized I was using them for everything during my kitchen remodel. Due to the different sizes, I always have the right size that fits in the right place. I have since purchased several other Knipex tools based on my experience with them.
