Great valve - read installation guide

This valve is pretty good. Feels very durable and looks great with the finish my wife chose. There are a few things to note: This valve can be installed in either 2-way or 3-way mode (note regarding 2-way mode, see below). After reading several reviews on different websites I thought I knew what the end result would be, but I was wrong. Hopefully the following descriptions will help others to understand the different installation configurations and how they define the final functionality. In 3-way mode, the handle rotates 360+ degrees (continues/continuously moves) and pauses (clicks of the handle) every 45 degrees. , a total of 6 positions. 6 positions: A; A+B; B; B+S; OUT; C+A, meaning you can turn on each of the three outputs individually or in pairs, but not all three. The handle can be adjusted so that the stops are perfectly aligned, contrary to the messages that the valve needs to be set perfectly straight or everything is misaligned. In two-way mode you have several options. 1) Follow the instructions. Sounds crazy, but it's definitely the best choice. You must remove the internal plug that separates outlet A from C, meaning outlet A=C and C=A (see http://helptopics.us.kohler.com/link/portal/5641/5712/Article/1070/ K-728 Snap-on Overflow Valve Removal Instructions). Then close/connect either output A or output C. The instruction manual (see large white plastic piece) is in front of it. As a result, the handle only rotates 90 degrees. As a result, the valve has only 3 positions: A; A+B; B and will not rotate past these positions. 2) Follow the instructions but skip some steps. Definitely an option and how my valve ended up after my remodel was complete. In this case, you still remove the inner plug and connect outlets A and C. However, if you do not move the seal, the valve will continue to rotate 360 degrees. Since outputs A and C are connected, this has the following effect: A; A+B; B; B+A; BUT; A+A In my case there was 1 position when my shower head was on; 2 positions when the shower head and rain head are on and 3 positions when my rain head is on. Luckily; Once everything is set the spacer slides easily and you can definitely click back and forth to see which option you like better: option 1 or option 2. Just snap in and close with a lid. one of the ports that gives you an effective off position. In my case this would lead to the following functional shower; shower + rain; Rain; Rain; out; Shower. The instructions specifically do not recommend this due to the risk of leaks. Exhaust ports are not specifically designed for prolonged exposure to pressure. I'm not sure why that could be, and I was willing to take the risk, so I was hoping for it. Unfortunately, this did not happen and the inner plug cannot be replaced without opening the wall. So the choice is yours. Good luck and you won't regret this valve.
