Wanted to transfer an old homemade VHS movie to DVD. I read some reviews and decided to risk it. I connected the red, white and yellow wires to the OUT jacks on the back of my VCR and connected the USB to my laptop. I didn't turn on the VCR. I put the settings minidisk in the laptop and followed the installation instructions (I have Windows 10 by the way). Everything went smoothly. Once installed, I clicked the icon, opened the program, and turned on my VCR. Inserted a blank DVD+R into the laptop. I turned on the VCR and clicked the gear icon in the program to start recording. I could actually watch the tape on my laptop screen. I received an error message because I didn't set the tape timer. I just guessed and set it to 1 hour and 27 minutes, started recording again and Viola! One thing that really confuses me is that you can actually see the elapsed time that is on the DVD+R. After the video stopped, I clicked stop recording and then it asked me if I want to burn it to DVD now. I had a tick that said it would burn but I wasn't sure if that was the case so I did it again? If it makes sense It went through the pre-play prompts and into record mode and I could hear the DVD spinning. Anyway, when it was done I saved the file, closed the program and just turned on the DVD and sure enough there it was! Sorry for the inconsistency but I hope this helps someone else.
