I wouldn't highly recommend avoiding these clips (unless you really enjoy clipping your shelves over and over again). You are useless. They came to my house with shelves and when my first shelf broke down I went out and bought the same ones thinking I might have overloaded the shelf and replaced them. I put about half the weight on the same shelf, but for a little over a year the same shelf collapsed again while I was on vacation. Two other shelves in my house that used the same cheap, poorly made Rubbermaid plastic clips also collapsed. I've since replaced them with a competitor's metal clips because for some reason Rubbermaid doesn't make metal clips. The metal clips work great and I haven't had any problems for over a year. The metal clip rack feels solid, and my leftover plastic Rubbermaid clips are long gone in the bin where they always belong.
