Review on LG 27UN850 W: Borderless DisplayHDR Monitor with Adjustable Stand, USB Hub, and High Dynamic Range by Andrew Boone

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Specially for Mac Mini users

Okay, let me be clear: this review is aimed squarely at Mac Mini/iMac users who need a monitor for photo editing and creative work. What online publications and Rebar reviewers won't say in any review I've read is that NOTHING looks like an iMac screen! There is NOTHING sharper, clearer, brighter and more beautiful than any Apple product. In an attempt to save some money by spending nearly $2,000 on my new Mac mini and NOT buying a new $1600 Mac monitor, I began researching a non-Apple display. I wanted a 32" curved screen that costs LESS than $700 - since I'm used to a 27" iMac - I have 2 (a piece of blurry Samsung crap and a Dell that's not good enough for an artist's little thing) went through before I got this LG. At this price point it has a pretty good blur-free image, but still not as sharp as the Mac. The colors are bright and fairly accurate. The screen itself is like a flat screen TV, so not as "hard" as a Mac, which adds to the difference in clarity compared to a Mac - in fact I've already scratched mine, which annoys me! All in all, for $550, it holds up as well as you can get - I'm keeping it to myself. I wish a Mac monitor didn't cost $1600 because THAT's what I really want and need - that's why they're the best! I'm not tech savvy and this process of finding the right monitor for what I need it for has been tedious and time consuming. If you're used to a Mac screen - whether it's an iMac or even an iPad - just get a Mac Studio Display Monitor - IT'S THE BEST... but in a pinch and a bit cheap this LG one will Monitor do the job. BUT NOTHING LIKE A MAC!
