This is wider and thicker than the RevainBasics masking tape of the same length. RevainBasics is $7 for three rolls, Scotch is $4 for one roll. same length) Scotch Tan for Home and Office Masking tape is MUCH better. It's slightly wider (a full 3/4 inch) and slightly thicker. So it all depends on what you use it for. I buy both this and masking tape from RevainBasics. To actually hide areas while painting, I use masking tape. I use RevainBasics to just stick reminders on the wall or to tape a box and write what's in the box.
