Very good sound level meter but note recalibration issue

Looks good. I won't refer to audiophile applications as I don't use this tool in that way. I wanted a device that would monitor noise levels in my area and at the job sites I visit so I don't have to rely on other people's claims about actual and perceived noise exposure. This device is quite suitable for this. The MAX function captures peak impact noise and isolates it from the main noise levels of the test area. This device was designed as a temporary or incremental measuring device. Individuals who need to intercept data and transfer the stream to a computer record should look for another type of instrument or device with a wider range of measurement capabilities. Of course, the company ships the device in a calibrated state, but that's not permanent. in its recommendation on calibration over time. The supplied user manual recommends recalibration before each use, especially if the instrument has not been used for a long time. The company's website recommends annual recalibration. Recalibration requires an additional device; Extech offers one that costs twice as much as the counter itself. Independent professionals or sound analyzers won't bother about the cost, but for casual users of the device it might seem like a big pill to swallow a tool that only is used occasionally. TV broadcast, the volume of which was adjusted in the high and low frequency overlap zone of the device, and the readings were pretty much the same - maybe 1-2 dB difference. It was a rough eye comparison, not a serious attempt to determine the meter's consistency. My conclusion is that the device is sufficient for occasional use at private parties and even for quick professional investigations to get context when more extensive noise investigations are planned.
