This is not our first system, so we have some experience to share. We have had this system for a few months. It has made our skin and hair feel softer. It’s not like the salt systems that make the water slippery and slimy-like. It’s affects are more subtle. There was awful hard water stains in our new (to us-6 years old) home. Once we got all the white hard water stains off tile, granite, faucets, sinks, tubs and toilets it has not come back. All drains are draining faster now too. The water even smells and tastes better than pre-system. Understand though, we needed a plumber for the installation, which cost about $1,000. We were able to install other systems (in other homes) ourselves, with our limited plumbing knowledge. This system was more expensive than the others because it does more. We also went with the top of the line "UV” so we would be protected from the possible bacteria in the water. For us, it’s worth the peace of mind and we think we are worth quality water. Do your homework, read the views for different systems in order to make a good choice based on your specific needs. I would recommend this product.
