Review on πŸ“Š AutoMeter 2888 Performance Tachometer, 2.625 inches by Nick Andep

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Auto Meter 2888 Tach works on any device with an alternator.

I have a 1997 Ford 6.8L, 415ci V10. I've heard from Ford and other stores that there is no speedometer plugin. So I used my Tach-Gun on Harmonic Balancer with a small reflective tape. Now I had accurate revolutions per minute. There are speedometers for $250 and up that use reflective tape or a magnet with a HAL gauge, they were mostly 2 1/2 inch digital. So I looked at analog tachometers for diesel engines. This Auto Meter Tach fits the bill perfectly and can be used on ANY engine with an alternator, also it only ran with 5krpm red lines V10 at 4800rpm then the computer cut out at 4900rpm, 1997 I only know of a year that he was in that mood. The pickup is located around the alternator so the display is different than the Harmonic Balancer, this is where the reflective tape comes into play.
