📊 AutoMeter 2888 Performance Tachometer, 2.625 inches Review

installed on my 1985 CUCV (K5 Blazer) 6.2 Diesel. Wanted to play around with the shift points on the Turbo 400, was easy to install and adjust. You need a digital laser to adjust the rotation speed!

The only reason for 4 stars for accuracy and value; I haven't tested it on a high-end remote speedometer yet, and I haven't had it long enough to speak of durability. Installation is very simple, it is well lit and still reads stably. In general I am satisfied.

Installed this tachometer on a tractor instead of paying John Deere $450 to replace the original. Just note that if you don't have a laser tachometer or some other way of measuring engine RPM, you'll need to buy one to calibrate it. But after calibration it works and is accurate.

I wish diesel tachometers were cheaper but this product works great. It was the cheapest quality engine I could find for my application (1991 VW Jetta TurboDiesel). So far it's working fine, but I haven't gone to a diesel mechanic to check the injection pump timing. I currently have it fitted using one of those reflective tape tachometers.

Used on a tractor to replace a broken factory assembly (replacement is $580. Hahaha, won't happen). I used a hole saw and cut/sunk the sensor into the dash. Works great, lights up well. Please note that you MUST calibrate this. That said, there is an adjustment screw that you need to adjust to get it to show up correctly. I have a 1997 Ford 6.8L, 415ci V10. I've heard from Ford and other stores that there is no speedometer plugin. So I used my Tach-Gun on Harmonic Balancer with a small reflective tape. Touch is ok, I doubt I need the 8000 range. A quality tachometer with a range of 0-5500 would fit 99.88% of all domestic cars, but Autometer won't do it for us. I would have liked the extended and more detailed RPM range provided by the 5500 speedometer cap. Comments about the "cloud of moisture" in the front panel are true.
