Works as advertised but I wouldn't buy it again for two reasons: - The switch is a bit noisy. a fairly noticeable "click" on both the switch block and the socket block. I use this in my son's bedroom, he is a light sleeper but I can see this being an issue for some. - There is an on/off button on the socket - it's very annoying - the switch glows red, so it clearly attracts the little ones' attention. My son sees the red light on the switch and wants to press it to turn off the light. I would prefer if this feature was absent or hidden. **Update after 1 year of use** My comments above still stand. The battery was empty after about 10 months. Replaced the battery, it doesn't work, I thought maybe my battery was dead, I tried again - no luck. Then I thought he might have lost contact with the base. and I was right. I simply pressed the button on the wall unit for about 5 seconds and it started flashing, then I pressed the buttons on the switch and BOOM! Worked. Another disadvantage: Devices lose the connection when the battery in the switch is empty.
