The device is innovative. However, the large flange sits above the original sink flange. With the appropriate gasket in place, the sink will drain only to the point where water is above the new flange. Water under the height of the new flange will not drain.I removed the gasket, and the device now better fits my needs; I rarely fill the bathroom sink so the stopper functionality is sacrificed to prevent items from falling down the drain hole. Even with the gasket removed, the water drains slowly, and not completely. With the gasket removed, the device is simply to pick up and allow the water to drain completely.Easy to install, easy to remove, marginal functionality.Update: After one week with this device, I have decided to return it. It simply is a hassle to remove it each time I want my sink to drain.As noted above, I sacrificed 'stopper' functionality to use the device as a simple strainer; after a week of daily use I have found the device has no value, and is actually more of a hassle that it is worth.And the device - shiny brass color that it is - takes on stains (soap, toothpaste, hard water, etc.) and is a bugger to keep clean.Although the design is innovative and it would be cool if the device functioned as intended, it simply fails to live up to expectations; therefore this device is being returned to Best Buy.To replace this device, I purchased from Best Buy a simple strainer-type basket to use in my sink.
