After having my first child I realized how important it is to protect your mattress, it's a big investment. I bought a good mattress just before the birth of my first child. I should have known better because I wasn't that young or naive, but somehow I was able to ignore the fact that children are filthy creatures that always seem to be expelling some kind of bodily fluid from their bodies. My first mistake was that I didn't buy anything, hence stains. My second mistake was buying a cheap "waterproof" cover that did nothing but create more wash. Because now I had useless cover. When my baby was old enough to absorb all of his bodily fluids, I bought a new mattress and then had another baby. This time however I bought this mattress topper and so far so good. There are no stains on the mattress and seems to hold liquid well without seeping into the mattress. I've washed it and it seems to be holding up. It keeps my mattress nice and clean.
