Now the monitor is fully suitable for my purposes. I subtract 0.2 for the pain in the ass associated with walking a large number of steps and an 8-week delay to get a $10 rebate on a temporary master card if you don't have 9 instead want to receive US dollars for a week. You might wisely choose to just ignore the discount. Anyway, I'm a retired professional. For over 15 years I have been responsible for selecting computers and monitors for companies with 10 to 25 employees. I am carefull. I settled on this one based on days of research, and the decision was finally based on an extensive review in Wirecutter which said THIS IS THE ONE until you pay $246 for another company's 24-inch monitor. The test recommends saving. up to $246 but I was in a hurry. As many reviews of a number of monitors have warned, the default setting was WAY too bright. Just be prepared to fix it. The monitor has control buttons and you can control all graphic properties. what you have on your operating system. To get perfect visibility, I set the brightness slider on the monitor to zero (0), the color temperature to "warm" and the brightness slider in the "Graphics Properties" section in Windows 7 to minus 18 ( - 18) Black is now black, and the middle white is almost white, not completely bleached. The colors are great. I adjusted the contrast a bit, but not much. I am VERY SATISFIED with my purchase and I am pleased that I do not have the slightest doubt. t I also look at pictures and films. I have a large, old, high quality audio system connected to my computer for music and movies, so the lack of speakers in the monitor is a plus for me. PS Not to mention the nonexistent height adjustment. I have this on my desk on top of a six inch (6 inch) high stack of six very hard and flat 8 x 11 inch paperbound seminar books so that the top of the monitor is at the top of my head. when i sit up straight This is a professional recommendation and I can confirm that this is the best way to work comfortably and watch for hours every day. The height can be adjusted by adjusting the number of books :-) UPDATE: Revain product support has so far been the only easy part of the experience to do what it takes to get that little $10 discount or shipping label with a barcode to get the crate. and sending to ASUS discount center according to the discount claim will deprive me of something I might need if I ever need ASUS warranty service. I contacted the technical support person. The lady was nice and explained no, I don't need a barcode anymore, just an invoice. She kindly sent me a dir. ect link to invoice in Revain. I assume it will be there if I ever need it. I've had the monitor running continuously for a week and now I'm turning it on and off. It's still great and makes me happy with the monitor and Windows 7 settings I did when I first set it up 10 or 11 days ago. Again, DEFINITELY buy this monitor if you check it out, but you may miss out on part of the discount. I didn't know what I was getting myself into to get a discount until I put in a lot of time and effort, more than it was worth. I think ASUS should pay me around $100 for my problems!
