My son was very afraid of water in early summer (2.5 years at the time). I've always used Puddle Jumper on my daughter so I assumed he could handle it too. Every time I put him in the water with the puddle jumper he screamed. I literally had to carry it around the pool with me. I bought this after seeing a swimming instructor use it on my daughter (4). We were in the pool one day and she wanted to swim alone so I thought I'd see what would happen if I put this on my son and to my surprise he loved it. He actually started shoveling and kicking the pool. I'm not sure what's wrong with this swimmer - maybe the fact that he can see his feet with it and the puddle jumper can't - but now he LOVES the pool. He did a full 180. In fact, he got so good at swimming with this thing that we took it off a few times and he can swim short distances. I never thought a kid would feel safer in it than in a big puddle jumper, but I think it does. It saved our summer!
