I bought this adapter after purchasing a similar Dewalt product. The brand has a couple of plastic tabs that only allow you to use 2Ah batteries but not 5 hour batteries. This adapter fits both. I used it on my first day of owning a saber saw with a 5 amp battery. It worked fine for about 5-10 minutes but failed on a serious cut. Wouldn't give any power at all. There was no smell of burning or external signs of malfunction. I have completed a project using a brand and a 2Ah battery. I later opened the case and found that the solder joints had come loose. It looks like it was badly soldered so I fixed that. Now it works like a champ and I've used it for similar jobs with no problems. The only stumbling block for me is that once you "cling” to the instrument, it is very difficult to let go. I almost considered leaving it on the instrument forever and just buying one for each of my instruments that I need it for. However. Not bad for this price. Just hope you get one with no soldering issues.
