Wanted to lap the valves on an old 5.5hp Tecumseh engine. I have 2 different valve spring compressors for small engines but none work. This one works great. By far the easiest to use, but I felt I had to keep a little internal pressure on it to keep it from popping out of the valve spring. It came with two sizes of suspension forks, but I didn't think it would stay in place. I used a screwdriver to remove the spring retainer in case the fork slipped off. I love my fingers and my wife hates hearing me squeak like a baby so this seemed like the best option. After removing the retainer, I released the internal pressure and went about my work. The compressor was left in place, so I was wrong. It's better to make a mistake than get hurt.
