Review on MarineLand Penguin Bio-Wheel Power Filter: Ultimate Multi-Stage Aquarium Filtration System by Lindsey Lewis

Revainrating 5 out of 5

tame the beast . .

The Marineland Penguin 350 Powerful Filter is a damn good cooktop, but out of the box it's not a filter for your bedroom aquarium. However, if you like a loud waterfall to lull you to sleep; In its original configuration, the Penguin 350 is a five-star performer. Taming this beast is very easy once you recognize the source of the filter volume - a flow rate of 350 gallons per hour. The ability to regulate the flow solves the problem of a noisy waterfall. Marineland builds this feature into Penguin Power Filters, but gives no advice or advertising on how to control the flow rate. There is no need to modify the filter to control the flow rate. The only requirement is to create a pre-filter by filling the screen with Walmart polyester floss, commonly referred to as filter floss, or water polish at your LPS (local pet store). After filling the main strainer, use the middle strainer to control the water flow. Start with a closed ML strainer. As you watch the biowheels move, open them just enough for them to spin. Not only does it reduce filter noise, they also added a pre-filter to keep the cost of those expensive filter cartridges down. . .Best Regards, Nat Ray
