4 Year Update: Towing Products and Winches

4 Year Update. Okay, I got my $200 off this mule, but not without A LOT of DIY. I've replaced or made literally all of the electrical connectors, switches, and wires, and repaired/made the handle assembly multiple times. Good news, the motor is still running :) After many repairs inside the electronics compartment (relays, wiring, connectors, switches) I couldn't service it anymore and decided to remove the entire relay system and a "hot wire" to a new toggle switch. I had to run a 16GA power line from the battery source through the handle to the toggle switch, as well as a motor line to the toggle switch, but it worked. Without the relay it will stop about an inch or so when the toggle switch is released, but otherwise so far so good. I would still only recommend this mule if you're good at DIY workarounds. I've done my best to keep it running so the only thing that could go wrong is engine failure (works harder over time) and after 4 years I'm ok with this and will be replacing the unit. with another exactly the same (although the price creeps up). 3 Year Update: Still works but with a few issues. The rocker switch has failed twice already. The connector from the wiring harness in the handle to the motor fell apart and I had to make a connector (3 pin connector) and the welded nut in the handle that connects to the motor body fell off so I had to tap a little thread in the motor housing. So many little things went wrong and without ANY support from the seller I was on my own to keep it running. On the plus side, I accidentally submerged it twice and completely submerged it in the lake and it didn't bother him at all, so it appears to be waterproof to a degree. Updated Review: I've had HappyBuy for about 2 years now and encountered an issue that rendered my HappyBuy unusable. The rocker switch has failed. Luckily it turned off while it was in the garage so I didn't get stuck in the middle of the driveway. I contacted HappyBuy and the initial response was encouraging. "We will do everything in our power to put things right," is the reply. When I told them all I needed was a replacement rocker switch. Dead silence, I never got an acknowledgment let alone a switch. So, as befits a good handyman, I went looking for the switch and finally found it. It's not expensive, but it just annoys me when I have to solve a manufacturer's problem alone and at my own expense. Here's a link to the Revain listing for the switch I found. It works great and installs without any modifications. get a clear idea of it. So here is my conclusion. It's just what I needed and at a reasonable price. Great concept, low profile, easy to install and use. I use it to move a 15ft pontoon boat on a galvanized trailer and it moves it easily. I have a very slight incline going into a garage and it loses some traction because I have sealant on the cobbles which makes them slightly smooth. I have found that the grip improves when I lower the tongue and thereby put more weight on the propulsion. I have exactly 1.5 inch door opening on each side of the rig that goes through the garage door and I easily maneuver the rig with the mover through the eye of the needle. I give one star for the mount. During use, the engine is subjected to a large side load, and the mounting bracket could be stronger. In particular, I'm referring to the bracket that wraps around the pipe section (the bracket that attaches to the trailer tongue is thin and strong). I am considering developing an additional bracket for the piece of pipe to give it more transverse strength. I can't tell how long the motor will last since I just got it and installed it.
