Fun for the price… - my new review

Look, I don’t know this company, nor am I aware of their reputation for reliability, good or bad…But this is a seriously inexpensive bath set and it looks well made. Components are thick and heavy metal. The valve is heavy brass. I don't like the H and C in red and blue on the THICK cover plate over the valve--the serif font used is execrable and proof of the unit's Asian origin. But is this thus junk? Because the Chinese don't understand design basics? I don't think so. They've done things right in many areas, including silicone tips on the overhead rainshower head and the handshower unit, making it easy to clean stuck nozzles and allowing many years of trouble-free use.The set is heavy. Heavy doesn't necessarily mean good, but in plumbing, my experience has been that light implements are often bad.Should you give it a try? I think so. I find many things are like my fountain pen collection—the really expensive pens with great reputations don’t actually write all that much better, often, than the $30 and $20 pens. Yes, there are differences, but the difference in price is bigger than all the rest combined. The problem with inexpensive plumbing accessories when they’re for the shower or tub is that the plumbing is in the wall, unlike toilets, kitchen and bathroom faucets, etc. So I understand being leery. But the cost differential between this set and a top quality set is so many hundreds of dollars that I think it’s worth taking the risk in a nice bathroom, and all the more worth taking the risk in a bathroom that isn’t a showpiece.

Pros
  • The durable construction ensures long-lasting use
Cons
  • The system is prone to corrosion
