I haven't had one in my kitchen before but I'm a skilled grinder as I'm interested in woodworking and am a "turner" in particular . So I have a wood lathe. I've sharpened everything from old chop saws, chainsaw chains, knives, scissors and chisels. I don't know why but I was missing one of these in my kitchen and this particular product is strong, well made and works great. This leaves a rougher final edge than I expected but I can handle it and also means you can get a good edge on a really dull knife with little effort or hassle. I recommend all foodies as a must-have in the kitchen.
