If you're not interested in custom ROMs, these are probably fine. I bought this model on purpose because it was on Tasmota's compatibility list (open-source third-party firmware). However, the manufacturer has modified the firmware to no longer work with the Tasmota Wireless Flash Utility, making it unusable for me. Why is it useless? Because I don't want to have a lot of different apps and [dubious] cloud services to work with all the different IoT devices. I need unified management software that runs locally on my computer. Enterprises have a bad habit of dropping support for IoT products, and if you're tied to their cloud service, switches become instant e-waste when you do. There are also security issues whenever the internet interacts with the physical world - IoT devices - and I would rather eliminate these issues while maintaining local control. This manufacturer may not realize that there is a tremendous market opportunity for the company to take a similar position and intentionally make its hardware compatible with an open-source IoT system like Tasmota or OpenHAB.
