I used it to trim the wallpaper before peeling it off. This was my first attempt at wallpaper removal and it was tedious but not difficult. This tool makes small holes in the paper, which allows the liquid to penetrate a little better. But I also did a section without it for comparison, and while the wallpaper was really saturated, it came off just as easily. The key seems to be getting the paper completely wet, which is messy but effective. After reading other reviews I didn't press Chomp too hard but it turns out my walls were 96 year old stucco and not drywall so this tool didn't leave any holes in the walls at all.
