I bought this unit to provide maximum flexibility for video sources at the lowest cost. I mainly use Netflix streaming so I considered the $99 Apple TV. However, I sometimes play DVDs or BlueRay discs, so having this option is useful. This device gives me both for the same price as an Apple TV. In addition, it has a variety of other streaming services such as Vudu, YouTube, etc. The device works well. One of the reasons I bought a Panasonic device was that I also bought a Panasonic TV. This offers good integration with their "Viera Link" functionality. It allows you to control both your TV and disc player with any remote control, turn devices on and off or change the input source depending on each other and other handy functions - as long as you connect devices with an HDMI cable. I find it practical and intuitive. The device boots fairly quickly and the streaming function (NetFlix at least) works pretty well (it actually looks identical to the NetFlix implementation on my old LG player).
