These screws are useful anywhere a washer is needed. so now you don't need it. I trimmed all of my old panels because they look worse now than they did before the new trim was added. I use them on soft metal like vent ceilings and rails to keep them from sinking and warping if I over-tighten the standard screw. Have a look around because the prices vary and they are around $6 in the same package from Teks at the home center. Self drilling is nice as I mainly use them on metal and they hold up much better than the staples I have used in my air and electric nailers. When the screws are visible I stick a bundle into the styrofoam and paint the spars the color I want and they look great holding the vertical vinyl siding that was meant to be the trailer skin so it wouldn't have nail protrusions.
