The manufacturer might have thought it was totally intuitive, but this thing had a hard time identifying sides. They have a zipper that you had to figure out how to fit and how to fit and then it took some time for it to move and have a zipper on each side. Much harder than necessary. My sister has cats, and knowing their mechanical abilities, she might have just dumped them if I hadn't attached the sides. Another issue is the plastic they use to protect the clear plastic on the side panels. It got stuck under the zipper even after I pulled out a few pieces, there were still some that appeared to be sewn into the sides or edges of the zipper so you had to rip it open close to the attachment point. All the bad troubles behind it, it was a cute little transporter, like carrying your cat in an aquarium or something. It has some sort of strap with a clip inside, I assume it attaches to a pet collar to prevent quick jailbreak if you carelessly open the package. However, if the animal likes to bite, then it is better not to fasten it. It would be difficult to remove if it were, the spring-loaded latch keeps it from slipping off easily, which is a good and a bad thing at the same time. More than I thought it would fit a Maine Coon cat although it was a bit tight but he curled up normally when he found he couldn't get out easily. I would rate it higher if they designed it fully folded. As it is you have to remove the sides and I don't want to reattach. They also had to give instructions. On the other hand, it was a decent quality material, and at the same time it was inexpensive. If I were a maker I would redesign the sides to fit at one end with built in zippers and be able to fold them without removing the sides entirely for convenience. Convenience is a waste of time, maybe metal and plastic cages don't store well, can't be used as a backpack, and can be expensive and heavy. There's no compromise here if it takes you 15 minutes to an hour (I needed that time to calculate and attach) to attach the sides each time. There are some benefits as the pet can see the world when you strap on your backpack and walk around. The sides are non-porous to keep out drafts and it's water-resistant so your cat or dog won't get wet in the rain. Easy to carry is good when you take pet places like parks and the like. Sometimes it is better for young pets not to go to busy streets for exercise. Easy-to-open zip-up flap and strainer opening to soothe or feed your pet. The straps are easy to carry, not exactly for a lumberjack hunter, but sort of like a school backpack so they don't get in the way for short trips. highlighted.
