Review on Pure, Safe, And Stylish: Megahome Water Distiller With BPA-Free Plastic Collection by Maurice Hurd

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good device with a few snags.

For me the sachet of activated charcoal is uselessly small. I don't bother with it. Instead, I buy bulk activated charcoal and spread a layer in the bottom of the pitcher. After a few hours and one or two stirrings, the water is nearly tasteless. At first this will leave some black powder in your water, but it is harmless. I use cheap charcoal made for aquariums (maybe one dollar per year), but you might want to find medical or food grade charcoal.Otherwise the distiller seems OK. If it lasts more than three years, I'll be happy.Six issues, of varying degrees of importance:1. The instruction booklet does not match the model. This can be confusing during assembly. You have to ignore some of the booklet's directions and use the enclosed loose sheet of paper.2. The collection pitcher is barely big enough. If you fill the distiller to the "fill" line, the pitcher will fill to within 1/4 inch of its brim. If you are not careful, you could have an overflow. Even if you are careful, the pitcher is hard to carry without sloshing over the brim.3. The packing tape left a sticky residue on my knife. I suggest you unpack with a throwaway such as a used razor blade or a can top.4. It's louder than a refrigerator.5. It will heat up a small closed room.6. Here in Houston, the leftover water looks like Coca-Cola and smells much like corn tortillas. Weird.
