I know K&N makes a good product. I have never had any problems installing K&N FIPK professionally on my 1999 Tacoma. I installed it myself on my 2005 4Runner. Since it was my first time doing this I probably caused some problems, but after installing it my check engine light came on and the codes showed an EVAP leak and some other problems. There are five codes in total. One code had me replacing the canister purge valve. After doing a little research and talking to a few people, I settled on a code. So, here's what I recommend for anyone who has never done this: 1) Clean the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor after installation. Apparently this should be done every time you change or clean the air filter. 2) Make sure you tighten all clamps very well. Screw them on very tight. 3) Apply thread sealant to all hoses that need to be threaded into the K&N hose, then apply some silicone to the same area to ensure no air leaks. the number of codes the computer reads. Some dirt or other small debris may have gotten into the air intake which may have caused the last code to appear. I hope that by following these guidelines you don't have the same problems I did.
