I bought these because I jog/hike/run on rocky trails in Arizona and Wyoming. Based on the Brooks Ghost 12 road bike boots I thought they were less cushioned. I wear a 10.5 and Saucony fits perfectly. They're slightly narrower than the Brooks Ghost, and the extra tight support in the midsole and around the heel was noticeable but not uncomfortable. (more reassuring) The Saucony has less drop and a lot less "foam" sticking out around the heel than the regular running shoes I like. It seems unbreakable and unstoppable on the trail, no matter what you throw at it. I've traversed big cairns, walked up 50 degree dirt hills, long rutted desert roads, and rugged scrubland full of sticks, rocks, and mud, and the shoes didn't rock or move on my foot. The materials of the shoes also appear to be durable, with no scratches anywhere. As I am used to wearing the Ghost 12 I bought an insole for extra cushioning. But I will say that right out of the box they are pretty comfortable and even have a cushioning layer under the toe liner. I would definitely recommend these for off-road use, they are a bit heavier at the heel/knee on the road than most trail running shoes. At least without an insole.
